TRACK AND FIELD MEET INVITATION : Friday, May 4, 2012, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Your school is invited to be a part of an exciting athletic event.

My name is Phil Riddell and I am a retired school principal, Physical Education teacher and coach with the Toronto District Catholic School Board. I also have had the privilege to be a part of Centro Scuola athletics for almost twenty-five years. We believe that we have put together an excellent opportunity for your students.

The Centre for Italian Culture and Education (Centro Scuola) and CONI Canada are sponsoring a Track and Field Meet and workshop for students in Grades 5,6,7 and 8 at York University on Friday, May 4, 2012, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The Meet will be called The Alberto Di Giovanni Games in honour of the founder of Centro Scuola who has promoted sports and cultural activities in our schools for forty years.

The Meet will feature a wide variety of both track and field events. Following the competition, certified coaches will conduct a workshop for interested students and teachers, featuring the latest in athletic training techniques.

Participation in the Meet will allow school coaches to kick off their Spring track and field program in a professional facility, and create possible incentives for their student athletes.
It will also allow the students to showcase their talents with the potential of becoming a part of the Centro Scuola athletic program, and possibly traveling to Italy to compete in the Giochi della Gioventu. This program is approaching its twenty-fifth year, and its membership has achieved city, provincial, national, North American as well as Italian championships and records, as well as earning scholarships to a number of U.S. universities.

To help cover your transportation costs, Centro Scuola and CONI Canada will pay $100 per participating school for busing.

If you are interested in giving your students the opportunity to participate in this Meet, please Download this page and fax attached form to Centro Scuola at 416-789-4246. Phone entries will also be accepted at 416-789-4970.

For additional information about the Meet and / or the workshop, please ask to be contacted calling the above number.

Thank you.
