Italian National Olympic Committee - Canada Board

CONICanada is the Italian National Olympic Committee in Canada, the mission is to establish and maintain relations with the community of Italian descent, and to local and national institutions.

CONI-Canada primary goal is to organize activities full of fun and games for the youth of the Italian and Canadian-Italian families that promote an active lifestyle, social development, inclusion and mutual respect and to educate them to a proper and balanced diet. With the assistance of fiduciaries in several Canadian Provinces we also hold national tryouts to select 20 youth, half boys and half girls, age 11 through 13, to bring to Italy in the summer to participate at our expense in the annual Youth Games-Giochi della Gioventu’.

Coni is the acronym for Italian National Olympic Committee. Founded in 1914 Coni is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is responsible for the development and management of sports activity in Italy. In total 95,000 sports clubs with 11,000,000 members are recognized.

In addition to Canada, Coni is also represented in Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, Venezuela and in the United States

Il CONI, emanazione del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale (CIO), è autorità di disciplina regolazione e gestione delle attività sportive nazionali. Il Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano, Ente pubblico cui è demandata l'organizzazione e il potenziamento dello sport nazionale, promuove la massima diffusione della pratica sportiva.

Al CONI aderiscono circa 95.000 società sportive per un totale di circa 11 milioni di tesserati (Fonte Istat e Censis).

Coni Canada è l'espressione dello spirito olimpico italiano tramite la comunità Italiana residente in Canada e per il suo tramite promuove la lingua e la cultura italiana tra i giovani e gli sportivi.

Coni Canada mantiene viva la tradizione olimpica nella comunità italiana in Canada con iniziative rivolte ai suoi membri e con la selezione annuale di 20 giovani che parteciperanno a cura e spese del CONI ai giochi della Gioventù.

La comunità olimpica di lingua italiana è presente in Canada e vi offre di condividere l'esperienza dello sport italiano.
